Color Basics 

This module looks to refresh and advance your color theory knowledge, reviewing and analyzing the importance of basic as well as complex color concepts.  These concepts include: optics and light, complex and simulations color contrast, color blindness and color vision, harmonies and disharmonies, and color interplay as some of the central color notions that make up the foundational knowledge that anyone working with color must have. This module serves as the stepping-stone on which more complex color knowledge can be built. 

Color Psychology 

The psychology behind color preferences and associations has attracted quite a bit of research and practitioner attention over the years.  Research looked to understand why people are more relaxed in green rooms, as well as how it is that weight lifters are at their best in a blue gym. Brand affinity and differentiation are also connected to color-emotion associations, as color seems to carry a strong emotional reaction. This module acquaints you with the volume of research in the area, discussing universal and individual aspects of color psychology and their implications for color strategy and design decisions. 

Color Forecasting Theory

As the economic climate becomes increasingly more challenging, being able to forecast colors that consumers are looking for is even more important.  Color forecasting is both an art and a science; this course will explore both sides of the forecasting process and different forecasting models. Topics covered will include a review of color forecasting history, the challenges associated with forecasting, the various methodologies used by forecasters, and the use of forecasts in industry. This module’s take-away will help redefine how you approach and utilize color forecasts in an effective manner.
